Grand Kavalier x Northern Sophie
Sam's sire Grand Kavalier represents wonderful breeding that includes World and Olympic champions Ahlerich and Rembrandt. Dam Northern Sophie was both a State and National champion dressage mare educated to Grand Prix prior to her retirement.
Bought as a foal, Grand Sam has been brought on carefully and slowly by dressage and event riders Justin and Amanda Hocking. He has enjoyed a stress-free young life that included hacking in the bush, ground control training, excellent nutrition, worming, hoof and dental care.
Grand Sam has successfully competed up to medium, consistently gaining scores over 62%, and is now training Advanced/PSG. He has above average suppleness in his lateral work and his changes are clean and very easy to achieve.
Sam is a no-fuss horse that can cope with very little work, long breaks between rides or a hard work out every day, whatever suits your lifestyle. Before becoming a full-time dressage horse, Sam regularly competed in showjumping up to 1.20m where he proved himself to be an extremely honest and easy ride. Sam is an absolute pleasure to ride, straight forward and always willing to please. He has great manners both while being ridden and on the ground and has been trucked and floated all over Victoria including agricultural shows, clinics and dressage days.
